Now finding quality mattress pads, in particular, is difficult. Finding one to fit a California king is even harder.I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this pad for the price...quality materials, very nicely finished. It is well padded and fits perfectly.Most waterbed pads sold now just have elastic bands at the four corners. They are constantly coming undone requiring you to frequently reposition them. This pad has deep pockets and "stretch to fit" sides. Once you put it on, it stays put.I'm certain this works great for conventional mattresses, too. If you have a waterbed, this will make your life easier and more comfortable.You can definitely find cheaper mattress protectors but they may not be made as well. This is a quality mattress protector that is stitched well and has a large and deep elastic skirt to hold it in place.I tested the TPU lining to make sure it is waterproof. I let water stand in a puddle on it for a few hours and none of it made it through the lining. The TPU lining sits below the bamboo and poly blended fabric so it's reasonably comfortable. Note that ANY truly waterproof mattress cover will make the mattress a bit more likely to cause sweating due to blocking evaporation. However, the fabric cover does a good job mitigating that.It's important to use a mattress protector that covers the entire mattress and has a TPU layer. This will prevent the infiltration of skin, sweat and other contaminants into the mattress. It's not just for kids with bedwetting issues, it's a good product for anyone that wants to keep their mattress fresh and clean (sheets are not enough as they are far too thin and allow skin, dust and sweat to penetrate).I just put this on my dad's bed today, a split king. It fits great and it has a fluffy soft top layer that is all WHITE. I stress that for those of you who use white sheets or light colored sheets, there is no writing on this that will show through. It is all white. I put a twin xl on each half of the bed and then a king on top of both to bring the beds together and make SURE it will remain clean.Tested it cuz i'm crazy. it works!it's very protective and stayed clean.On my mattress
