The padding is thinner than I expected but provides a modest level of support. A heavy person can still feel the metal framework under the mattress, but it's adequate for my 115# granddaughter.One thing to keep in mind is that this product is made for sofa bed mattresses. It barely fits over my 5" mattress and would definitely not fit a mattress any thicker.Definitely not happy with this product. It was much thinner than we expected, offers almost no support, and is definitely not worth the price.
